Just freezing at valley level overnight. A few optimists were out yesterday but found thin snow covering un-frozen turfboth at Bowfell and Helvellyn. The snow moved back up to about 500m yesterday and temperatures hit 7.5 degrees at valley level.

It's another bright sunny morning and as we speak the snow is melting some more. I think Gable Crag would offer the best possibility of any winter climbing today, if it's not in condition you can always go round the corner and climb on the Napes in the sunshine
